Change and Transition

Healthy things grow.
Growing things change.
Change creates challenges.
Challenges drive us to trust God.
Trusting God leads to obedience.
Obedience leads to health.
Healthy things grow.

Our pastor Nathan Oates talked today about change and transformation. His sermons always touch on something that is happening in my life. Here are the main points he talked about.

Can we grow, develop and thrive amidst change? Change and transitions are not something we should just endure or try to survive, waiting for a happy ending. Change exists to provide us with an opportunity to allow Jesus to change us, to shape us and make us into the people we were created to be.

Jesus’ goal is transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit. He came so his disciples could be transformed and the world transformed through them. Pray for the grace to relax. Trust God with the situation and ask him, ‘Jesus what do you want to do within me right now? How do you want to create transformation? Who do you want me to become?’

“The question that is way more important than the question, ‘What were you saved from?’ is ‘What were you saved for?’ The church has always asked, ‘Are you saved?’ but, according to Jesus, the greater question to ask is ‘For what purpose am I saved?’ He doesn’t say, ‘Go and make converts.’ He says, ‘Go and make disciples’.
You were saved in order to be transformed...
In order to become the person you were created to be...
In order to do the things in life that God has created specifically for you to do.
