The Narrow Gate
Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
- Matthew 7:13-14
Suffering is a natural part of the human condition. We have a body that eventually grows old, suffers and dies. But we also have an ageless soul and a God that shares the power and grace of His Spirit with us. We have a choice. We can chose to dwell in the world and suffering or we can turn to God and spiritually transcend our human condition. That is the narrow gate...our choice to surrender our will to God. At first, our choice to accept Christ's gift of Life may lead us to places that seem daunting, irrational and unattractive. However, if we make a choice to walk through God's simple door and begin a journey up His rocky path, our physical burdens do grow lighter and we begin to see beautiful rock roses growing along the way.
